The fastest option is a domestic flight. From Velana International Airport in Male, the flight to Dharavandhoo Airport takes only about 20 minutes, with several flights operating each day. Every year, when the tides and currents are right, hundreds of reef manta rays gather here to feed on dense clouds of plankton, sometimes joined by whale sharks. Hanifaru Bay sits inside Baa Atoll, the only UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in the Maldives, and it is a strictly protected Marine Protected Area.
